Hi there, what a nice idea Daniel had to open an english conversation club in FI.de. After school I had the possibility to study business english during my apprenticeship. It was quite refreshing to be able to practice english at work as well as we had a lot of discussions with the IT-guys from Ireland. After that time, I had no possibility to use any english at work as all the customers were just national enterprises. That changed in 2005 when I got myself a customer with worldwide branches. I had and have a lot of contact to the London branch. in 2007, I had been there for nearly 6 weeks to do some special tasks. That was one of the best things in my business career. btw: leo is your friend Cheers Danny
Good evenig all, just thought I could join this group... Does anybody watch DVDs from time to time? Certainly yes would be my guess... almost all of them have the feature to show subtitles on the screen. And again almost all DVDs sold here in Germany feature English as language. What I found good for me is setting the spoken language to English in the disc menu - and to switch on english subtitles. The subtitles make it much easier to understand the spoken words... this is a good method to learn languages - and (depending on the quality of the movie) it's fun and 100mins of no studies...
Hey, who else is interested in keeping this group alive? I can offer myself as a grammar help. At home I only speak English and although it is not my native language it almost became more natural for me to speak English than to speak German. Nobody's perfect and mistakes happen to me, too, but I do consider myself having somewhat of a higher level than the average non-native at least And now - happy englishing! ;P
Hi Calimerah, thank you for your offer :-) BTW: Is "englishing" really a word ?
Oh no, I don't get any notifications for this group, so I didn't see your answer! Hehe, and no, "englishing" is just a nice-sounding creation of mine /edit: Ok, now I signed up for a subscription, too.
