Online postgraduate students outnumber campus colleagues
Thousands of students from 175 different countries are studying for online degrees with the University.
Providing an alternative route to higher education, online programmes enable students to study at their own pace, making it the study method of choice for people unable to commit to a full-time campus-based degree. The University now has more postgraduate online students than campus based students.
Professor Paul Leng, Head of the University’s e-Learning Unit, said: “We are attracting talented students of all ages from around the world – including many from third-world countries – who are attracted by the opportunity to study without leaving their home or having to step out of their career.”
In 2008, a number of new programmes were added to the University’s online portfolio. The University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS) launched new MSc courses in International Management, Global Human Resource Management and Global Consumer Marketing. These complement the online MBA and MSc in Operations and Supply Chain Management programmes.
In 2009, online programmes will be developed in the School of Law, while masters' degrees in Nursing and Computing and Management and doctorates will be added to the portfolio. Continuing professional development courses designed to appeal to business leaders will also be introduced.
ULMS Senior Lecturer, Dr Alan Southern, said: “The new programmes provide an opportunity to deliver a wider range of specialised management and business education courses than ever before.”
Man beachte auch die Ankündigungen zukünftiger Studiengänge.
