Hallo zusammen, bei der Auswahl eines DBA-Programms ist auch eine wichtige Frage, ob Sie sich eher für einen Präsenz- oder ein Fernstudium entscheiden sollten. Die Fernvariante ist besser geeignet, wenn Sie es gewohnt sind, in Ihrem eigenen Tempo und an frei gewählten Momenten zu studieren und wenn Ihre beruflichen Verpflichtungen Ihre Verfügbarkeit für die Teilnahme an Präsenzseminaren einschränken. Am Business Science Institute unterscheiden sich das Präsenz- und Fernstudium nur in der 1. Phase des DBAs, die fünf dreitägige Seminare umfasst. Phasen 2 und 3, also Betreuung der Forschungsarbeit sowie Abgabe und Prüfung / Verteidigung sind in beiden Modalitäten gleich. In dem deutschsprachigen Programm gibt es außerdem eine gewisse Flexibilität, d.h. ein verhindertes Präsenzseminar kann ausnahmsweise durch den entsprechenden Online-Kurs ersetzt werden, und auch den Online-Doktoranden werden regelmäßige Gelegenheiten geboten, die Fakultät und Kommilitonen auch persönlich bei Seminaren zu treffen und sich mit ihnen auszutauschen. To add to the discussion on the distance learning DBA, allow me to challenge what has been said. It is important from the point of view of ethics and academic integrity to make it clear in what capacity one is speaking: I am a university professor, founding president of the Business Science Institute, and I have had around sixty PhDs and ten DBAs successfully defended among the doctoral candidates I have had the pleasure to supervise. 15 years of managing international DBA programmes (observation based on over 150 oral defences) means that I can confirm that the key factors in the success of a DBA programme are: 1- the motivation of the applicants, 2- the quality of the faculty, 3- the quality of the supervision of the doctoral candidate-managers. The format of the DBA - in-person, distance learning, blended - is in no way an explanatory variable for the quality and success of doctoral candidates. The format of the programme does not influence the quality of the thesis. There are good and bad distance learning programmes, and the same applies to in-person programmes. For this reason, Business Science Institute has been AMBA accredited since 2020. What is decisive is, first and foremost, the academic quality of the faculty and, above all, their availability and willingness to supervise managers' theses. This is a point that is often overlooked, but some professors at 'prestigious' universities, obsessed with the 'publish or perish' culture, wrongly fail to see the value of supervising DBA theses. Yet it is the professor's availability, the supervision of the doctoral student and their willingness to interact with a manager-researcher that are crucial. To believe that the distance format penalises the quality of a programme is a throwback to the last century or to a time when Information and Communication Technologies did not exist. This is why we have set up the same digital tracking system for all theses, whether in-person or at a distance (40%), so that we can track and archive all interactions between doctoral candidates and their professors. This system is unique. Moreover, a French 'diplôme d'université' does not automatically classify the course in terms of the Bologna LMD 3-5-8 system; it is the content of the course that determines the level. All the DBAs awarded by French universities are awarded as DUs, as national regulations offer no other option. Our DBA corresponds to the doctorate level, as the international AMBA accreditation attests. As stated on our website (https://de.business-science-institute.com/anerkennung-deutschland/), recognition of the degree of doctor in Germany depends on the content of a course of study, and our alumni can undoubtedly use "Dr." in front of their name. Our recommendation to ask your local authority about the recognition of our degree relates only to the registration of the title in your identity papers. We are doing this because of the complexity and constant evolution of international legislation that you point out in your exchanges, but the equivalence with a doctoral-level qualification is indisputable.
