Über diesen Blog

Hej och välkommen!

20210709_175531.thumb.jpg.aa5a07a60667d27884d816efcfbdfe7c.jpgJust as I did almost four years ago, you might have tried to research experiences with the Master Programme Integrative Health Science of Kristianstad University (Högskolan Kristianstad) in Sweden. And maybe just like me you realized that there is only limited information out there. Since enrolling in the programme in the autumn semester 2018 (HT18) I have been blogging on this page. Maybe this is even how you ended up here.

As I am German my blog entries thus far have been written mostly in German. Or for the lack of a better world let's call it Germisch. Unfortunately, this might result in the first excitement of finding information about the programme turning to frustration, as a highly doubt any translation software will do my personal experience much good. Not to mention the frustration when discovering that yes, there is someone writing about the programme and course but not in the language of the course.

With this blog I am trying to change that and provide first hand insight through my googles, enabling you to experience the ups and downs, joys and frustrations, questions and answers through the lenses of my eyes.  However, be aware that this is my personal experience, yours might be a completely different one as our experiences are highly influenced by our backgrounds, perceptions and expectations.

Which is a good point - maybe some more background information about myself would be interesting.

Final Exam: Integrative Application

Running...backwards but running. That's how it feels, or something like that. I would have liked to have finished or submitted my paper already. But an infection got in the way and then I stumbled into it, right into the middle of a motivational hole. What I really miss is the relaxed exchange with fellow students. At APOLLON, that always worked out well and you could just get in touch with others. At HKR, that's super difficult. You only see the students who are currently in your course on your

Free studies = motivation brake or carte blanche to drop out?

I thought I would do a short interim report. Until 23:00 last night, I thought that what was happening in my group was a bad joke, because there were still 59 minutes until the deadline. And honestly, reading three articles in doubt and discussing a question about each one without having to go into what the group had previously discussed doesn't seem like such a high hurdle to me now. A quarter of a page (= a total of 1.5 pages) in one week is no mean feat either. What happened? From my group, 6

Week 6-9: Paper, Research & Group Discussion the 2nd

It's time for a short update. The last discussion was very unsatisfactory, but in the end I got some very nice feedback from the grumpy professor and two tips that were just right for the first paper. There was also a short exchange in the group and two apologies, and we'll do better in the next discussion exam. But more about that later.   The paper was supposed to be between 3 and 4 pages and I used every last line of it. I even found it very exciting in the end, because what I didn'

Week 4-5: Discussion without discussion and questions?-Not desired

I'm only going to write briefly today, because I first have to put the current emotions and thoughts regarding the continuation of my studies into a reasonably pragmatic order, freed from culture clash and "at my former faculty".  At the moment, the mood is somewhat depressed. Our course has not only halved in size so far, but at the same time there is a general dissatisfaction with the strong structure, which was never a problem at first after Prof. eins. While our group discussions were pretty

Week 1-3: Foucault, Turner and if that's part-time....

So, having gained some distance from the internal discussions and at least seeing that an effort is being made, I thought I'd give it a try with an update. The first three weeks are now over. I thought I could do distance learning, but at the moment I have one or two doubts. I wrote the paper on integrative health and my views. It was not graded, but still had to be submitted by the deadline. I received nice feedback, even though it degenerated into a bit of stress in the end. But that was more
